95. John Jacob7 Garlinger (William6, Jacob5, "George" Johannes Georgius4, Johann Heinrich3 Gerlinger, Phillippus Jacobus2, Christoph1) (#35) was born in Bedford, Pennsylvania July 19, 1824. John died March 26, 1900 in Hardin, Ohio, at 75 years of age. His body was interred in McElroy Cemetary, Hardin, Ohio.

He married Mary Hardman 1847. (Mary Hardman is #373.) Mary was born February 1, 1823. Mary died May 26, 1997 in Hardin, Ohio, at 174 years of age. Her body was interred in McElroy Cemetary, Hardin, Ohio. !OCCUPATION: Farmer !BIO: John J. Garlinger was the third of a family of sixteen children and w as reared on a farm. He did not attend school but picked up his learning after his marriage. His parents moved from Pennsylvania to Columbiana County, Ohio sometime after the 1830 Pennsylvania Census. Then in 184 9, his parents moved to Hardin County, Ohio. John J. Garlinger appear s in the 1850 Hardin County, Ohio Census. He started out his adult life wi th only 50 cents in his pocket, and, after working around and picking u p odd jobs, he succeeded in buying some land in Liberty Township, Hardin Co unty, Ohio. His wife, Mary Hardman, was the daughter of German parents. Mrs. Garlinger was a member of the Christian Church. John Garlinger w as a democrat in politics, a Trustee and School Director, and a noted fa rmer of Liberty Township. !MISC: The 1870 Hardin Co. Ohio Census has James age 16 and John W. a ge 9, living with John J. Garlinger. These two boys are the orphaned sons o f Horatio and Catherine Morrison Garlinger.

child 144 i. John H.8 Garlinger (#374) was born in Liberty Twp., Hardin, Ohio 1849. John died 1849 in Liberty Twp., Hardin, Ohio, at less than one year of age. His body was interred in Woods near Cabin, Hardin. !DEATH: Died at six weeks old. John J. Garlinger made a crude cabin f rom rough boards and laid his infant son to rest in the woods near their cabin.

child 153 x. Florence E. Garlinger (#383) was born in Hardin, Ohio April 28, 1867. Florence died January 26, 1956 in Bluffton, Ohio, at 88 years of age. Her body was interred in McElroy Cemetary, Hardin, Ohio. She married twice. She married Frank Keppner. (Frank Keppner is #804.) She married Elmer Elwood October 6, 1888. (Elmer Elwood is #803.) !CHILDREN: In Florence Keppner obituary her children are identified as Wilbur near Ada Homer near Dola Elzay of Kenton Mrs. Harry Zwick of Dayton 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandschildren It is not clear from the obit if the children were the last name of Elwood or Keppner

child 154 xi. Sarah Ann "Sadie" Garlinger (#384) was born in Hardin, Ohio 1868. She married John Parker February 24, 1894. (John Parker is #806.)
