101. William⁷ Garlinger (William⁶, Jacob⁵, "George" Johannes Georgius⁴, Johann Heinrich³ Gerlinger, Phillippus Jacobus², Christoph¹) (#37) was born in Schellsburg, Bedford, Pennsylvania February 22, 1834. William died December 30, 1920 in Bakersfield, California, at 86 years of age.

He married twice. He married Mary A. Burnet in Hancock, Ohio, September 10, 1863. (Mary A. Burnet is #558.) He married Sarah A. White in Ada, Hardin, Ohio, 1864. (Sarah A. White is #420.) Sarah was born in Ohio December 1835. !BIRTH: William's birth has been listed as 1833, 1834, 1835 and 1836. An excerpt from the Ada Record of Jan 5, 1921 indicated that William was the first white child to be born in Liberty Twp. Hardin Co. Ohio. However, this does not appear to be true based on other Census Records. !NOTE: William married Mary Burnet from neighboring Hancock Co. Ohio in Sept 1863, their son Seth was born in Feb 1864 and William and Mary divorced soon after. Seth's descendents say the Will iam would pass young Seth on the streets of Ada and not acknowled ge him. Seth's family later moved to southern Ohio. William marr ied Sarah White later that same year in 1864.
